An important part of Sierra Nevada is in the province of Almeria. This is one of Europe's natural paradises. It is a spectacular scenery of flora and fauna.

There's a a new motorway here that links most of the the towns in the region to Almeria airport. If you travel southeast from the town of Guadix to Almeria you'll find a town called Fiana. It's located in the corridor between the Sierra Nevada and and the Sierra de Filabres. Fiana is an absolute must see - a nature lovers paradise, with some great trekking routes.

The eastern Alpujara of Almeria is totally different to the Granada side. The landscape is generally ver dry and arrid, yet it has the occasional green fertile area, due to the abundance opf water.
