Rioja is idyllic and it is a small town located on the heights of the Rio Andex, very close to Almeria capital. During many years, it has survived by the cultivation of oranges.

Rioja is an idylic little pueblo, located on the banks of the River Andex, quite close to the capital city. For many years, its economy mainly depended on the cultivation of the Ohanes grape. Nowadays its economic activity centres on agriculture, citrus fruits, cereals and potatoes and a few small industries.

This is also where you'll find the famous "Alfaro spa", whose medinal waters are apparently beneficial for colds and various skin conditions like dermatitis.
