The area of Los Vélez is located in the north of the province. It is a bit isolated but the scenery that surrounds it is spectacular, especially the Parje Natural (natural rest spot) in Sierra María-Los Vélez.

This beautiful area of mountains and pine forests is perfect for off-trail biking and walking. It also has some interesting and unique wildlife that you won?t find anywhere else in Spain.

This is a bird-watchers paradise. You can even see Griffon vultures here. In real life they're huge - very impressive. It's also one of the few areas in Spain where you can see squirrels. Los Velez is also home to the unique, but threatened European tortoise.
