The town Cabo de Gata is found in this beautiful rest stop of thick sand. Here the small lake is formed where you can go fishing and observe flamingos in their natural habitat during the migration process.

The town of Cabo de Gata is located on a lovely stretch of coarse sand. It has a small fishing fleet and and a huge lake (Laguna de Rosa) where you can see flamingos!

La Almadraba de Montelera, with its fishing boats chained up along the beach is well worth a visit. The beach is very nice. Head south past Pico de san Miguel and you'll come to the Faro de Cabo de Gata (lighthouse). This marks the cape's southern tip and on a clear day you can see Morocco's Rif Mountains.

Behind the lighthouse you'll find a track that leads to two of the most beautiful beaches in this part of Spain. It also leads to the small town of San Jose. You can't drive down the track. But it's a lovely walk, through some of the most scenic parts of the Parque Natural.
