The Valle de Andarax goes up from Alhama to Almeria and its elevation is of a couple hundred feet. The scenery changes quickly the further up you go, the more mountainous this scenic area gets.

The Rio Andarax river valley rises steadily from Alhama de Almeria and reaches up to over several hundred metres. The scenery here changes very rapidly; it's truly spectacular and the higher you go, the more lush and mountainous it becomes.

There are over eighteen beautiful villages in the valley, each with its own unique character and style.

This is the only area where grapes for wine are produced in the whole province. In Laujar de Andarax there's a thriving wine producing industry. From here they export wine to all over Spain and Europe.
